Yes, at Oke-Are, I saw many familiar faces who were once with us in primary school and now in various stages of their seminary formation. They played host to us to the best of their ability in addition to what the seminary herself had to provide. We ate the evening meal with the seminarians, joined them at their evening and night prayers and thereafter watched the programme for that Friday evening, which was a debate in the hall. We observed that some of the seminarians were as young and small as ourselves, but obviously more mature and confident than us. The following morning, we were in the chapel for morning prayer and Mass and later sat with the students in their refectory for breakfast. These programmes in which we had already participated made us even more desirous of being admitted into the institution. Before the interview, our friends who were already students in the school gave us some important hints about what to expect as questions and how to respond. Among these questions was one in particular: Why do you want to be admitted into the seminary? To this question, there could be only one answer…

ANTHONY OBANLA was born in Ajilete Yewa/Egbado South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria on May 12, 1960. He was ordained a priest in 1985 and conferred with the distinct Title of Chaplain of His Holiness by the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI in 2006. This autobiography is a souvenir of two events: the 40th Anniversary of his Priestly Ordination and the 18th of the conferment of the Title of Chaplain of His Holiness by the Pope. By the grace of God since 1991 when he came back from his studies in Rome, he has worked with grit in the Chancery of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos.
